Scope and arrangement
Ledgers and scrapbooks make up a large part of the Mendelssohn Glee Club papers. The material chronicles the first amateur years of the club, and its evolution into a popular men's singing organization. The correspondence files address membership approval and future plans for the club. Through the administrative files, which include constitutional amendments, by-laws, constitutions, concert preparations, membership approval, reports, and minutes of meetings, there is a wealth of information about the club's activities. Categorized as publicity material, the clippings, photographs, and programs, archive the club's popularity from 1884 - 1969. The vocal scores highlight music referenced in the club's library, rehearsals, and performances. There are 2 boxes of oversized material.
