The Black Filmmaker Foundation (BFF) is a nonprofit membership organization co-founded and led by filmmaker Warrington Hudlin. The Black Filmmaker Foundation collection consists of 715 moving image recordings and one sound recording created from 1971 to 2004, with the bulk of the collection created in the 1980s and 1990s. The collection includes films, demo reels, music videos, and other media produced by Black Filmmaker Foundation members and collaborators, as well as recordings of the organization's public programs. less

Musician and teacher Samuel Carroll Buchanan (1927-2010) received his PhD from New York University in 1987 with a dissertation on Black jubilee quartets in the United States. The collection consists of fifty-six audio recordings, primarily of interviews with former jubilee quartet members conducted by Buchanan as part of his doctoral research. less

Marilyn Clement (June 30, 1935 - August 3, 2009) was a civil rights activist, an organizer for racial and social justice, and the executive director for the Center for Constitutional Rights from 1976 to 1989. The collection contains eight short videos about Clement's work as an activist and the organizations with which she worked, dating from 1986 to 2006. less

Nightclub singer and gay rights activist Stormé DeLarverié (1920-2014) was known for performing as a male impersonator in the Jewel Box Revue, a drag performance troupe, and for her role in the 1969 Stonewall Uprising. The collection consists of five audio recordings and eight videos relating to DeLarverié's life and career, dating from circa 1975 to 2010, including the short documentary Stormé: The Lady of the Jewel Box by Michelle Parkerson. less

Thomas Glave is a writer, academic, and social activist who has published four books of short fiction and essays exploring the experiences of LGBTQ people of color. The collection consists of sixteen audio recordings and two videos, primarily of radio interviews with Glave. less

Andrew Goodman (November 23, 1943- June 21, 1964) was an American civil rights activist. The collection consists of ten audio and twenty-five video recordings related to the 1964 murders of civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner, including commemorations, documentary films, news segments, and music. less

Producer, educator, and archivist Martha Diaz formed the Hip-Hop Education Center (HHEC) to formalize and promote hip-hop based education. Its primary holdings are from the Hip-Hop Odyssey (H2O) International Film Festival, which Diaz founded in 2002 to showcase hip-hop films, music videos, public service announcements, and related media from around the world for artists, educators, and the broader community around its home at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. In 2007, H2O shifted from producing festivals to collaborating with Third World Newsreel on H2ONewsreel, a full-service media development and distribution organization for hip-hop media makers. The Hip-Hop Education Center collection brings all of these related works under one umbrella. The Hip-Hop Education Center collection consists of 446 moving image works and forty-one sound recordings created from 1979 to 2014. These works have been included in Hip-Hop Odyssey International Film Festivals, or created or presented with the assistance of H2ONewsreel. less

Gerald Horne (1949-) is an African American historian, professor, radio host, political commentator, a 1992 California Senate candidate, and the author of Fire This Time: The Watts Uprising and the 1960s (1995), as well as over thirty other books. He is the John J. and Rebecca Moores Chair of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston. The collection contains 112 audio recordings and eleven videos relating to Horne's career, including interviews about his scholarship; interviews he conducted as a radio host as well as research for his books; appearances he made as a Senate candidate; and appearances at academic conferences, dating from 1970 to 2003. less
