Yaddo is an artists' community located in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Yaddo Records date from 1835-1997 and contain the administrative records of The Corporation of Yaddo, as well as the institutional records of Yaddo from 1926, the year Yaddo began accepting guests. Notable guests have included Newton Arvin, John Cheever, Aaron Copland, Malcom Cowley, Leonard Bernstein, Truman Capote, Carson McCullers, Langston Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Katherine Anne Porter, and Clyfford Still. The Yaddo Records also include the personal papers of Yaddo's principal founders, Spencer and Katrina Trask, and George Foster Peabody.

Philip John Schuyler (1733-1804), a Revolutionary War general and statesman, was a prominent member of the landed aristocracy of New York State. The collection consists of correspondence, accounts, military records, land records, and other papers documenting Schuyler's military, political and business activities and, to a lesser extent, his family affairs. Correspondence, 1761-1804, is with military officers, members of the Continental Congress, committees of safety, and family, and concerns the conduct of the Revolutionary War in the Northern Department, 1775-1777, and political and personal matters. Indian papers, 1710-1797, contain Schuyler's papers as Commissioner of Indian Affairs in the Northern Department during the war and as agent of New York State. Canal papers, 1792-1803, include correspondence, diaries, reports, surveys, accounts, and other papers relating to the construction of canals in New York. His papers as Surveyor General of New York State, 1773-1788, and other public papers, circa 1775-1796, consist of correspondence, receipts, drafts of legislation and proposals, building plans, and other papers. Financial papers, 1711-1805, estate papers, 1752-1828, and land papers, 1705-1864, pertain to business activities and land holdings of Schuyler and family. Family papers, 1772-1851, contain correspondence and other papers of Schuyler family members. Correspondence consists of Joseph Hawley's draft of a letter concerning the death of his brother Elisha Hawley (1726-1755); a letter to him from Boston bookseller Jeremiah Condy, 1758 December 9; and the fragment of a letter from John Adams to Hawley [1774 June 27] regarding the importance of a colonial congress. Also present are Hawley's address to the militia of Northampton, circa 1775; a fragment of his confession of belief in Arminianism; and five deeds conveying property in Northampton, to Elisha Hawley in 1751, and to Joseph Hawley, 1760-1784.

The Braman family genealogical research papers consist of genealogical notes, compiled by Edward Braman, on the Braman family of Hyde Park, N.Y., New London County, Conn., and elsewhere, and the related Adams, Teel, Hitt, Dusenbury, Weaver, Garrison, Russell, Sexton, Van Vliet, and other families, as well as original family documents and manuscripts. The notes, dating 1853-1906, are mostly in bound volumes, organized by family name. Robert Lenox Belknap, the New York businessman most prominently represented in this collection, was a direct descendant of Abraham Belknap (d. 1643), an early settler in Salem, Massachusetts; and Joseph Belknap (1630-1712) of Boston. The Center and Innes families counted author Henry Livingston and Francis Lewis, signer of the Declaration of Independence, among their ancestors. Dr. Deas Murphy, father of Serena Deas Murphy Center, served as Chief of Surgery at St. Luke's Hospital, New York, N.Y. The Clapp family papers include 17th and 18th century financial records, land records, and estate records of the Clapp family of New York and Connecticut. The financial records primarily consist of promissory notes, 1722-1772, many of which relate to the debts of John Clapp. Also present are Thomas Clapp's accounting records, dating mostly from 1804-1815, and additional miscellaneous receipts and accounts. Land records relate to properties owned by the Clapps in New York City, Greenwich, Conn., 1723-1769, Westchester County, N.Y., 1705-1807, and Dutchess County, N.Y., 1740-1770. A purchase deed for land in the Bowery Ward of New York City by John Clapp is the oldest land record in the collection, dating from 1694.
