Ruth Ann Koesun (1928-2018) was a ballerina with the Ballet Theatre, later the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), and was one of the first Asian-American dancers to reach the rank of principal dancer in the company. The collection holds files related to Koesun's career, including correspondence, press materials, and photographs, as well as costumes, ballet slippers, and video recordings that chronicle Koesun's experience as a touring ballet dancer. less

Atlanta-born photographer Frederick Melton (1918-1992) came to Manhattan in 1939, where he worked in a variety of creative media. He was eventually introduced to George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins of the New York City Ballet, where he photographed nearly every facet of the company from the late 1940s through the 1950s. The Frederick Melton photographs collection of negatives and contact prints capture some of the company's most well-known productions, including intimate backstage moments, and set and costume designs. Many notable principal dancers are represented, including Tanaquil Le Clercq and Maria Tallchief, as well as co-founders Jerome Robbins and George Balanchine. Melton also focused on the School of American Ballet, the associate school founded by George Balanchine, where he photographed classrooms, students, and faculty. less

Pryor Dodge (1949-) is an author and collector and the son of Lyena Barjansky and Roger Pryor Dodge. Roger Pryor Dodge (1898-1974) was an American dancer. Roger Pryor Dodge's work was focused on the intersection of ballet, vaudeville, jazz, and film. The collection illustrates Roger Pryor Dodge's collaborations with other dancers and jazz musicians through photographs, film footage, scrapbooks, manuscripts, and correspondence. The majority of the collection consists of an eclectic range of film footage of Roger Pryor Dodge's dance routines, many of which were created in collaboration with his partner Mura Dehn. less
