Joseph Strimer (1881-1962) was a Russian composer. The Joseph Strimer papers, dating from 1913 to 1955, are primarily composed of score manuscripts, and also contain a small set of professional papers.

Scope and arrangement

The Joseph Strimer papers, dating from 1913 to 1955, are primarily composed of score manuscripts, and also contain a small set of professional papers.

The scores are for five instrumentations: choral, instrumental, organ, piano, and songs for voice and piano. Item-level descriptions of the scores can be found on the archival portal. The papers contain Strimer’s 1913 diploma from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory; his 1924 certificate of membership in the Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Éditeurs de Musique; an undated copyright registration form for The Legend of the Calvary Clover; and a list of Strimer’s published music.

Arrangement

The collection is in two divisions, Papers and Scores. The scores are subdivided alphabetically by instrumentation.

The scores were previously processed by the Music Division such that each of the instrumentations were in separate collections. Final processing brought together all the scores and papers into one collection.
