The Maxine Glorsky papers are arranged in three series:
-
1971-1981
This series documents the activities of the Technical Assistance Group Foundation (TAG), mainly from 1975 to 1981. The files are in three divisions: Dance Umbrella Files, New York Dance Festival Files, and Administrative Files.
The Dance Umbrella Files contain programs; flyers; brochures; clippings; contracts; stage and lighting notes; performance and rehearsal schedules; box office statements; budget records; advertising and publicity literature; and, in some cases, photographs of venues or dancers. The first file, History of Dance Umbrella, holds lists of participating dance companies and choreographers arranged by year; photographs of venues and dancers; and clippings. TAG did not produce a Dance Umbrella season in 1980. See Series III for video recordings of Dance Umbrella performances in 1976 and 1977.
The New York Dance Festival Files include programs, clippings, contracts, stage designs, light plots, budgets, and daily reports. The first file, History of the New York Dance Festival, contains a project description, a list of performances at the Festival by year, and a history of the Delacorte Theater.
The Administrative Files contain development papers; board and committee meeting minutes; letters of support from the public and the arts community; files regarding TAG's use of The Space at City Center and the Roundabout Theater, as well as its presentation of Meredith Monk and the New York Cabaret Festival; and publicity literature for TAG. The development files contain grant applications to and correspondence with corporations, foundations, and city, state, and national government funding agencies.
