Barbara Arnest (1923-2017) was a writer and the editor of The Colorado College Magazine, the college's alumni magazine. Arnest, a long time Colorado Springs resident, worked on an unfinished biography of modern dance pioneer Hanya Holm, who taught at the Colorado College Summer Dance Festival for over forty years. The Barbara Arnest collection of Hanya Holm material dates from 1965 to 1986 and is primarily comprised of Arnest's notes (some of which she took while observing Holm's classes), interview recordings and transcripts, bibliographic research, and a few incomplete drafts. Approximately a dozen programs for Colorado College dance performances and the Colorado Opera Festival are present. Thomas, mostly relating to his and his wife's family histories, in the form of typed and handwritten research notes, correspondence (much of it with family members), charts, copies of legal documents, certificates, wills, deeds, and vital records. The principal famlies researched are Ambler, Berry, Doyle, Draper, Dungan, Odell, Peet, Sincerbeaux (Sinsabaugh), Thomas, Timpson (Timson), and Vanderburgh, who settled in Connecticut, Maryland, New York, Nova Scotia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and elsewhere. There is also some 19th century correspondence between Berry family members; also included are notes from the actresses Glenn Close and Julie Harris, and cartoonist Dick Moores, as well as material on the ancestry of model and actress Brooke Shields. less

Marius Sznadjerman was born in Paris in 1926. He escaped to Spain with his parents in 1942, moving to Venezuela where he attended the School of Fine Arts in Caracas. After moving to the United States in 1949, Sznajderman studied at Columbia University with scenic designer Woodman Thompson and printmaker Hans Mueller, receiving both a B.F.A. and M.F.A. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and has taught at several universities, including New York University, School of Visual Arts and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sznajderman has also had numerous exhibitions of his work over several decades. Over 350 original designs, principally for sets (mostly color), floor plans, and studies created by Marius Sznajderman for Circle in the Square Theatre and the French Art Theatre in the 1950s. The collection also contains production and research notes, as well as publicity material and posters. There are also some publicity materials for Circle in the Square, programs, fliers, and postcards for individual productions, blueprints, elevations, as well as a number of black and white photographs. Also included are costume designs (possibly for The firebrand, ca. 1924), several sketches, a sketchbook with notes, ca. 1918-ca. 1924, by noted stage designer Woodman Thompson, perhaps related to Sznajderman's research for the play Ludus Coventriae. In addition to Sznajderman's set designs, studies, floor plans, and production notes for the French Art Theatre, New York City (Eve Daniel, director), there are subscription letters and 7 posters, ca. 1951-1958. less

The Julia Seaman Price papers (1951-1973) contain correspondence, notes, newspaper articles, and theater programs that Price compiled in preparation of her book, The Off-Broadway Theater (1962). Correspondence consists of Price's letters requesting copies of original scripts and information about productions, and replies she received. Replies include letters from Gene Feist, Barrie Stavis, and other playwrights. Her research notes concern Off-Broadway productions from the 1930s to the 1950s. Theater programs and souvenir booklets for 1950s Off-Broadway plays are present. The Richard Sisson research materials (1921-2002) concern actors Evelyn Brent and Dwight Marfield. The bulk of the collection relates to Brent and her work in silent film. Materials about Brent include Sisson's research notes, his correspondence about Brent and her career, incomplete draft manuscripts for a biography of Brent, clippings, and publicity material. There is one photograph of Brent in 1971. The collection also contains audio recordings of an interview with Brent. Dwight Marfield material consists mostly of fliers and announcements that Marfield created for his performances and art shows in the 1950s and 1960s.
