Edward Gallardo (1949-2019) was an American writer, lyricist, and actor of Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Venezuelan descent born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Gallardo's best-known play, Simpson Street, was performed throughout the United States and toured in Spain, Puerto Rico, Columbia, and Mexico. Gallardo's papers date from 1910 to 2020 and chronicle mostly his work as an actor and writer through contracts, correspondence, notebooks, photographs, scrapbook albums, script drafts, and audio and video recordings. less

Barnard Hughes (1915-2006) and Helen Stenborg (1925-2011) were prolific stage and screen actors. Hughes was best known for his award-winning turn as the titular character in Da, and Stenborg performed extensively with the Circle Repertory Company. Their papers date from the 1880s to 2011, and chronicle their professional careers and personal collecting interests through posters, programs, photographs, correspondence, engravings, scripts, manuscripts, and award trophies. The collection also contains theater memorabilia that Hughes inherited from Thelma Chandler, a stage manager. The Chandler memorabilia includes correspondence from Margaret Webster, the American director, producer, and actress. less

He was best known for directing the Academy Award-winning documentary He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin,' the sleeper film Dirty Dancing, and the comedy hit Sister Act. Ardolino's papers date from the 1950s to the 1990s, and chronicle his professional career primarily through video and sound recordings, production materials, posters, notes, correspondence, programs, photographs, contracts, artifacts, and plaques. While most of the collection comes from Adolino's work as a director and sometime-producer of feature films, television series, and television movies, his early work in multimedia design, acting, and film editing is also represented. less
