The Dawn Lille collection, dated 1932 to 2002, documents Dawn Lille (1934- ), a performer, teacher, and oral historian. Her collection contains oral history interviews she conducted with African-American dancers. Justin Winsor (1831-1897) was an American librarian and historian. He was superintendent of the Boston Public Library from 1868 to 1877, and librarian of Harvard University from 1877 until his death. The collection contains letters to Justin Winsor, as Superintendent of the Boston Public Library, from other librarians and Albany publisher Joel Munsell, relative to the purchase and exchange of listed books and periodicals, 1869-1874, with two letters to his predecessor Charles Coffin Jewett on the same subject, 1866-1867. Winsor's letters to Gordon L. Ford, Worthington C. Ford, and Paul L. Ford, 1887-1892, concern historical and bibliographical matters, as does a copy of Charles Deane's letter to Justin Winsor of 1877 March 10, with Winsor's related note to George Henry Moore (1823-1892) copied below it. A few invoices and receipts for publications, and Winsor's completed questionnaire for Appleton's Cyclopaedia of American Biography, 1888, are also present. less

Roland T. (Roland Taylor) Ely (1924-2014) was an American historian, known for his work on New York City merchant and banker Moses Taylor (1806-1882) and sugar production in 19th-century Cuba. The Roland T. Ely papers, 1951-1961, contain his slide presentation "Moses Taylor and the Cuban Trade, 1832-1882," describing his use of The New York Public Library's Moses Taylor Papers and his research in Cuba while a doctoral student. Also included are some of Ely's research computations on Moses Taylor's business finances; typescripts of his academic writings on contemporary United States-Latin American relations; documents relating to a film project promoting inter-American relations by Student-to-Student, Inc. with the Princeton Film Center; copies of awards received from the governments of Argentina and Ecuador; and copied news clippings relating to Ely's professional activities and his research in Cuba, with some loose printed matter. Jonathan Ned Katz (1938 - ) is an independent historian, author, LGBTQ rights advocate, teacher, and textile designer. His father, Bernard Katz (1901-1970), an artist and designer who worked in advertising, was an independent historian of African-American history and jazz music. Jonathan Katz's mother, Phyllis Brownstone Katz, was a magazine editor and co-founder of the Jane Street Community Garden. The Jonathan Ned Katz papers reflect his life and career as an historian, author, LGBTQ rights advocate, teacher, and textile designer. They most heavily document Katz's research and writings on LGBTQ history and activism, and encompass his personal life, family, friends, and the LGBTQ liberation movement. The collection also contains the papers of his parents, Bernard Katz and Phyllis Brownstone Katz. less

August Meier (1923-2003) was a civil rights activist, a scholar of African American history, and the author of Negro Thought in America, 1880-1915: Racial Ideologies in the Age of Booker T. Washington (1963). Seraile played a large role in the establishment of Herbert H. Lehman College's Black Studies department, and taught there for 36 years. His papers, dating from 1905 to 2025 (the bulk date from 1956 to 2024), document his academic career, research, writings, activism, and family through correspondence, research files, writings, clippings, flyers, family papers, scrapbooks, journals, posters, and literature and mailings from multiple community and political organizations and activist groups. less
