Scope and arrangement
This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and typescripts, correspondence by and about the author, a travel diary for 1930, a commonplace book for 1924, and financial documents. The manuscripts and typescripts comprise poems, articles, and essays by the author. The correspondence includes letters from the author, dating from 1897 to 1942, to Edmund C. Bentley, Lady Juliet Duff, Elizabeth and Mervyn Herbert, Lady Laura Lovat, Sir Edward Howard Marsh, C. H. Norman, Lucian Oldershaw, T. Fisher Unwin, A. P. Watt and Son, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dating from 1929 to 1950, between various correspondents including Eleanor Jebb, Sir Edward Howard Marsh, A. P. Watt and Son, and others.
The Hilaire Belloc collection of papers are arranged in three series:
