Raoul Pène du Bois (1912-1985) was a costume and set designer for the theatre, working on Broadway productions from 1934 until his death. David Toser is a costume and set designer who has worked on Broadway as the lead designer in productions and as du Bois's assistant. The David Toser and Raoul Pène du Bois papers contain costume sketches, preliminary drawings, swatches, programs, clippings, and photographs that document their costume design work for Broadway and touring productions individually and in partnership. The bulk of the collection relates to du Bois and Toser's costumes for the 1971 revival of No, No, Nanette, but other productions, including The Taming of the Shrew, Filumena, and Hollywood/Ukraine are also represented. Toser's personal correspondence with costume manufacturers is included. The collection is arranged into correspondence and productions, with oversize material for No, No, Nanette and The Taming of the Shrew housed separately.
