Scope and arrangement
The Jack Timmers professional files date from 1950 to 1991 and contain scripts, prompt books, photographs, set designs, posters, and programs.
Scripts are arranged alphabetically by title and date from 1951 to 1991. Titles include Annie, Different Times, Let Me Hear You Smile, Mame, and 42nd Street . The script for My Fair Lady is accompanied by stage directions. Prompt books are for Annie and Philadelphia, Here I Come . The full score of Mame is filed with the script.
Photographs in the collection consist of headshots, production stills, and casual shots of actors, dancers, and Timmers' colleagues. The photographs correspond with a numbered inventory that was provided with the collection (but not all of the photographs on the inventory are present in the collection). Posters are usually for shows that Timmers stage managed, such as Hello, Dolly, Annie, and Animals . The collection also contains one file of materials relating to the Stage Managers' Association.
The collection contains audio recordings of songs and musicals. Inquiries regarding audio material in the collection may be directed to the Billy Rose Theatre Division (theatre@nypl.org). Audio material will be subject to preservation evaluation and migration prior to access.
