Richard Lortz was an author, playwright and screenwriter whose work is reflected in letters, playbills, reviews and scripts.
Richard Lortz (1917-1980) was a playwright, screen writer and novelist, notably for his publication Children of the Night (1974), and his theatrical productions on Broadway and London. Lortz died in New York City in 1980.
The collection, dated 1958 to 1994 (bulk dates 1970s), holds material by Richard Lortz, collected by James Watkins, a long-time friend. The files include several letters to the Watkins family from Lortz describing professional and life events; playbills from Lortz's productions of The Others and Voices; and reviews and copies of Lortz's scripts.
