Scope and arrangement
The collection contains clippings, programs, newsletters, photocopies of motion picture “dope sheets,” and ephemera documenting the career of actor Albert Lawrence. The papers span from 1908 to 1955 (bulk dates 1915-ca. 1926).
Included are photocopies of a motion picture "dope sheet" for King Solomon's Mines (ca. 1919) and the March 22, 1919 issue of South African Pictorial, with a supplement on the film, Allan Quatermain. (Lawrence was featured in both films.) There are numerous programs, fragments of programs and clippings, mostly for regional theater stage productions (some in Canada) in which Lawrence appeared.
A number of clippings are for The Bat (1923). Several issues of The Princess Bulletin, a newsletter for Philadelphia's Princess Theatre and Princess Players (in which Lawrence performed), are also included.
A July 12, 1919 passenger list for the ocean liner La Touraine and a 1938 Actors' Equity Association card are also among the papers.
