Pencil and ink sketches of stars of film and screen created by Mildred Berne for various New York City newspapers.
Mildred Berne was an artist who worked for various New York newspapers during the 1920s and 1930s including The Herald Tribune, New York World, Brooklyn Eagle and The Brooklyn Times Union.
The collection contains original sketches of performing arts personalities as well as some clippings of the sketches as they were published in the various New York papers. The images are of actors and actresses during the 1920s and 1930s and include such notables as Lillian and Dorothy Gish, Eva Le Gallienne, Joan Crawford and Ruth Gordon to name a few.
