Rosa Guy (1922-2012) was a Trinidadian American award-winning author and an active member of the Harlem community. The Rosa Guy photographs date from the 1920s to 2000s and consist of portraits of Guy and her family and friends, professional events, personal gatherings, and candid pictures from Guy's travels. The collection holds mostly photographic prints, as well as some negatives, slides, ephemera, expired passports, photograph albums, and a scrapbook.

Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) was an American suffragist, peace activist and lecturer. Collection includes correspondence and other papers primarily concerning Catt's efforts on behalf of world peace and women's suffrage. Correspondence, reports, press releases, minutes, brochures, and clippings relate to the Empire State Campaign Committee, 1914-1915; National American Woman Suffrage Association (to which Catt was elected president in 1915), 1916-1918; Women's Centennial Congress, 1940; and the International Woman Suffrage Alliance, 1904-1947. Also, manuscript and printed versions of Catt's writings, 1887-1947, including addresses, articles, dramatic works, and notes; an album containing photographs of a 1923 trip to the Panama Canal; and printed materials, including biographical articles, and scrapbooks containing materials related to Catt and to women's suffrage activities, 1916-1917.

The Personal papers provide partial documentation on his childhood and migration to the United States, his employment in the Civil Service in New York, his military record, his association with the Urban League, the Urban Center at Columbia University and the Douglass Urban Corporation, his alumni affiliations and his membership in various professional and political organizations, including the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the Boston Area Black Studies Consortium, the National Association of Black and Ethnic Studies Directors and the National Council of American-Soviet Friendship. The Labor and politics series documents Guinier's career as Secretary-Treasurer of the United Public Workers of America union, his association with the American Labor Party as a candidate for the Manhattan Borough presidency in 1949, and his work in the 1950s and early 1960s with the Harlem Affairs Committee and the Jamaica Coordinating Council. The series consists primarily of correspondence, articles and speeches written by Guinier, minutes and reports of UPW's Executive council. Also included are printed matter files on labor discrimination in the Panama Canal Zone and the 1947 Loyalty Act.

Kenneth Koch was an American poet, playwright, essayist, screenwriter, novelist, and short-story writer. The Kenneth Koch papers document the personal and professional activities of the writer, Kenneth Koch. Holograph and typescript drafts comprise the bulk of the collection. The papers contain holograph manuscripts and typescripts of the author's published and unpublished work (in every genre, including plays, "comics," and games), notes and other material related to the works, Koch's correspondence, photographs, collaborations, material related to his work with children, miscellaneous personal documents, printed material, ephemera, scrapbooks, press cuttings and photocopied reviews of his books, and holograph manuscripts and typescripts of works by other writers (especially Frank O'Hara and John Ashbery). Also included in the papers are 9 boxes of unsorted printed ephemera, and 3 boxes of journals, magazines, and newspapers. The correspondence in the collection is mostly made up of incoming material, of which there are three categories: personal, professional, and fan mail. The personal and professional correspondence is arranged alphabetically by author; within each author's folder letters are arranged by date. Of the personal correspondence and works by others, the most substantial holdings are by "New York School" artists such as Frank O'Hara, John Ashbery, James Schuyler, Larry Rivers, Harry Mathews, Fairfield Porter, and Jane Freilicher. Also noteworthy are letters and works by Koch's former students, Ron Padgett, Frank Lima, Tony Towle, David Shapiro, and Jordan Davis. Also present are publishing contracts and royalty statements for several of Koch's books.

Established in New York City in 1874, the Lambs Club is the oldest professional theater club in the United States. The Lambs Club scores consists of the organization's library of published and manuscript music, representing a range of popular music, both vocal and instrumental, from the late 19th century up to about the 1960's. There are many pieces by prominent former members of the Lambs such as John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin, as well as much original music composed for Lambs Gambols and other events by members like Fred Hillebrand, Adam Carroll, Sam Stept, James Caruso, and Eddie Weber, just to name a few. There are orchestra arrangements for the Lambs celebration for Ed Sullivan, scores of incidental music for Lambs TV, and in general, a representative cross-section of popular music and its creators particularly from the early 20th century.

The John Steptoe Papers consist of personal papers, personal and professional correspondence, examples of his writings, reviews of his work, news clippings and programs regarding his seminars and lectures, and material from various organizations to which he belonged. The personal papers contain clippings and press releases about Steptoe's achievements, correspondence with family members, a resume and biographical essays, and obituaries. There is professional correspondence and fanmail from adults and children, as well as letters from other artists.

The CBS Collection represents music obtained and used by the organization and stored at CBS headquarters at 485 Madison Avenue, NY. Dance band music used by orchestras broadcast over the Columbia Broadcasting System (i.e. CBS Inc.). Arrangements of popular music from the areas of Hollywood films, Broadway theater, Tin Pan Alley, the Harlem Renaissance and operetta make up the bulk of the collection. The CBS library containing these arrangements was active from the late 1920's to the early 1970's, though most of the music represented was composed and published in the thirty year span of 1915 - 1945. Typical orchestration of the arrangements include vocal parts, piano, one or two violins, four or five saxophones, two or three trumpets, one or two trombones, banjo or guitar, bass and drums, though some are scored for as few as three parts or as large as a chamber orchestra with all woodwind and string instruments represented.

Victor Francis Calverton (born George Goetz) (1900-1940), radical reformer and author, was founder and editor of Modern Quarterly, an independent Marxist journal. Collection consists of correspondence, writings, business records, photographs, and printed matter. Calverton's correspondence as editor of Modern Quarterly is with many of America's left-wing literary figures of the 1920s and 1930s, including William Z. Foster, Bertram Wolfe, Scott Nearing, Edmund Wilson, Max Eastman, and A.J. Muste. Included is correspondence with Leon Trotsky in which Trotsky and Calverton discuss the nature of proletarian literature. Personal correspondence consists mainly of Calverton's love letters, 1928-1940, to Nina Melville, his second wife. Also, manuscripts of articles, books, book reviews, debates, and lectures; business records of Modern Quarterly; scrapbooks containing reviews of Calverton's writings; and photographs of Melville and Calverton.

This collection of comic books published between 1933-2010 consists mostly of titles from mainstream publishing companies such as DC and Marvel (Series I and II respectively). However, there are a number of comics from independent companies such as Dark Horse, Archie Enterprises and Caliber Press (Series III). Much of the collection focuses on the superhero / anti-hero out to fight injustice and evil in the world - e.g. Detective Comics (Batman), Hellblazer (Constantine), Fantastic Four and Amazing Heroes. However, quite a few romance, adventure and even X-rated comics are to be found in this collection. Earlier comics within this collection are not in pristine condition and show signs of previous handling from owners.

The Jacob Druckman Collection documents the life and career of Jacob Druckman (1928-1996), a Pulitzer-prize winning composer, educator, and organizer of the New York Philharmonic's Horizons series of new music concerts. The collection, assembled by Druckman over the course of his lifetime, with additional material inserted posthumously by his family, includes musical scores, correspondence, clippings, programs, and iconography; the collection's sound recordings are housed in the Rodgers and Hammerstein Archive of Recorded Sound and have been cataloged as a separate component. The New York Public Library acquired the Jacob Druckman Collection in December 1999. The music, papers, and iconography in the Jacob Druckman Collection represent the professional and personal interests of their namesake. The collection accrued naturally through Druckman's activities as composer, conductor, teacher, and concert organizer, and it is augmented by documents related to the organizations that he served as a board member, officer, or adjudicator. There is also a small amount of material concerning the work of Druckman's wife, the dance scholar Muriel Topaz. The bulk of the collection falls between 1949 and 1996, the period from Druckman's college graduation to his death.
