Collection consists of correspondence, lecture notes and printed matter relating to Dransfield's career as a writer and lecturer. Correspondence is with actors, authors, stage directors and producers, theatre groups, publishers, and literary agents. Printed matter includes programs, brochures and ephemera.

Biographical/historical information

Jane Dransfield (1875-1957) was a playwright and lecturer on the theater. Her plays included The Lost Pleaid,Blood O' Kings,Joe,The Romance of Melrose Hall,and The White Window. A book of her poetry, Marks Upon a Stone, was published in 1940. Dransfield also wrote theater reviews and was active in several literary societies. At one point she served as an officer on the Drama Committee for the Poetry Society of America.

Scope and arrangement

This collection includes correspondence with authors, producers, theater groups, and literary agents, lecture notes, programs, promotional brochures, and ephemera relating to Dransfield's career as a writer and lecturer. Dransfield corresponded with George Arliss, David Belasco, Gustav Blum, James Decker, Ford Madox Ford, Theresa Helburn, Edna St. Vincent Milay, Harriet Monroe, Edwin Milton Royle, Georgia O'Keeffe,Faith Van Valkenburgh Vilas, Stuart Walker, and Stark Young.
