Scope and arrangement
The collection contains correspondence among members of the Klefeker and Saxer familes in Germany and the United States, 1844-1906, family photographs, autograph albums, certificates, legal documents, drawings, poetry, religious writings, and memorabilia. Included is Franz Klefeker's diary/memoir, 1842-1882, and instructions for the disposition of his estate. Nearly all of the materials in the collection are written in old German script.
