Judith Scott was a founding member along with Gus Giordano of Dance Inc.-Chicago. She was also an educator, teaching Modern Dance at the University of Jamaica in the West Indies, Northwestern University and Barnard College. Scott also formed Judith Scott Dance Company and performed pieces throughout the metropolitan New York area.
Judith Scott was born Judith Skwiot in Chicago, ca. 1937. She attended Mundelein College, where she received her degree in 1958, majoring in Theater and Psychology. She completed a Masters Degree in Dance Education at Northwestern.
In 1963 she joined Gus Giordano in forming Dance Inc.-Chicago. As well as performing, Scott was the Modern Dance choreographer for the group. During her time with Dance Inc.-Chicago, she also taught Modern Dance at the University of Jamaica in the West Indies, and at Northwestern University.
From 1969-1975 Scott taught at Barnard College in New York City. During that time, she also formed Judith Scott Dance Company and performed pieces throughout the metropolitan New York area.

The Judith Scott Papers were donated to the Jerome Robbins Dance Division in 1992 by Judith Scott.
