Scope and arrangement
These six microfilm reels contain materials documenting the career of ballerina Marie Taglioni (1804-1884), with some items relating to other members of the Taglioni family. The originals form part of the collections of the Bibliothèque et Musée de L'Opéra, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.|||The materials include both printed and manuscript items which are arranged in a series of files numbered R1 to R87. (R15 was not filmed.) Languages are chiefly French, German, and Russian, with some items in English, Italian, Swedish, or Polish.|||Files R1 to R13 contain published articles and newspaper reviews of Marie Taglioni's performances, 1826-1879, arranged by city and year. Files R17 to 23 contain various manuscript and typewritten versions of Marie Taglioni's autobiography, written in French. Files R27 to R61 contain manuscript documents, including correspondence, contracts, etc., relating to Marie Taglioni's tours or engagements in various cities, 1832-1847, arranged chronologically. R62 to 63 concern the ballet Le Papillon, 1860-1861.|||The remaining files, R 14, R16, and R64 to R87, contain various types of manuscript and printed material, including death notices for Marie Taglioni (1884), her niece Marie Paul Taglioni (1891), and Filippo Taglioni (1871), various legal family documents (birth certificates, passport, wills), published biographical notices on Marie Taglioni and Salvatore Taglioni, miscellaneous press clippings, poems (both published and manuscript), letters and songs from admirers, Filippo Taglioni's diaries, and other miscellaneous items.|||Appended to the brief list of contents is a copy of the original catalog cards from the Bibliothèque et Musée de l'Opéra, Paris.|||Language: French, German, and Russian, with some English, Italian, Swedish, and Polish.
