Bettina Rosay (1918-1999) was a ballerina and choreographer. She danced with Leonide Massine's Ballet Russe Highlights, the Markova-Dolin Company, and the Chicago Opera Company, and was a dancer and choreographer for Melody Fair in Toronto. The Bettina Rosay papers (1921-1990, bulk 1921-1955) document Rosay's career through photographs, clippings, programs, and a small amount of correspondence. Much of the material is in scrapbooks.

Biographical/historical information

Bettina Rosay was a ballerina and choreographer. She studied with Luigi Albertieri and Michel Fokine, and danced with Leonide Massine's Ballet Russe Highlights, the Markova-Dolin Company, and the Chicago Opera Company. She was a dancer and choreographer for Melody Fair in Toronto, which presented musicals in the round every summer from 1951 to 1954.

Scope and arrangement

The Bettina Rosay papers (1921-1990, bulk 1921-1955) document Rosay's career through photographs, clippings, programs, and a small amount of correspondence. Much of the material is in scrapbooks. Photographs date from the 1920s to the 1950s and include posed publicity images and photographs of Rosay rehearsing and performing. The collection includes a letter from Margaret Severn, dated 1990. The collection also contains a small amount of material related to Rosay's family, dating to the 1920s and 1930s, and some handwritten notes on music history.
