The William Jerdan manuscript material in The New York Public Library's Pforzheimer Collection consists of writings and correspondence. The writings include a number of short pieces that appeared in literary journals. The correspondence dates from 1815 to 1867 and includes letters to Lady Blessington, the writer and literary hostess; Henry Colburn, the publisher; Thomas Hood, the poet and humorist, and a few others.

Includes holograph manuscripts of poems, short stories and miscellaneous writings that appeared in London literary journals (The Keepsake, Bentley's Miscellany) from the mid-1820s to the early 1840s, as well some apparantly unpublished writings. Correspondence largely reflects Jerdan's work as a literary editor and critic.
