The Van Schaick family descended from trader, processor, and landholder Goosen Gerritse Van Schaick. Van Schaick came to New Netherland and settled in Albany and Beverwyck, New York, during the 1630s. The Van Schaick family indentures, bonds, and other material, date from 1771 to the 1990s and were collected and compiled by Cynthia Sherar, a descendant of Gosen Van Schaick.
