The major portion of the collection is comprised of research materials and drafts for Mr. Macdougall's biography of Isadora Duncan, published in 1960 as Isadora: a revolutionary in art and love,and correspondence (1953-1956) regarding his efforts to have the work published. It also includes letters to Mr. Macdougall from Irma Duncan concerning the Isadora Duncan School in Moscow (1928) and its continued devotion to the memory of Isadora Duncan. Other correspondents include Maria Theresa (Duncan), Rupert Doone, Henriette Sauret, Ted Shawn, Sergei Essenine (typewritten copy), and copies of the original Isadora Duncan letters found in the Irma Duncan Collection of Isadora Duncan Materials.

The collection is comprised of four major groups of materials: correspondence to and correspondence from Isadora Duncan (and others), manuscripts relating to, for the most part, the years Isadora Duncan spent in Russia, 1921-24, a group of clippings, and memorabilia.

The Lucy Phelps Lampkin Papers contains newspaper articles, programs, letters, journals, photographs and a scrapbook relating to her career as a teacher in Athens, Georgia, where she directed the Lucy Lampkin School of the Dance and Related Arts, and to her year as director of the Dance Department, Sullins College, Bristol, Virginia (1938-1939). This collection includes material relating to Lucile Marsh and Ruth St. Denis.

Eileen Adair (1897-1987) and Nana Ticotin (stage name Ticatin, 1922-1993), were pupils of Irma Duncan (née Irma Erich-Grimme, 1897-1977); herself an Isadorable trained by Isadora Duncan (1877-1927), an American dancer of innovative dance movements. Adair was also a dancer and as a teacher trained Ticotin. Both women occasionally performed together while developing their individual dance styles. The Adair and Nana Ticotin collection, dated 1917 to 1993, reflects the influence of Isadora Duncan on Adair, Ticotin and other dancers through clippings, photographs, programs, a scrapbook, and a book entitled The Technique of Isadora Duncan as Taught by Irma Duncan. Assorted material includes writings by Adair, and flyers about the artist Raymond Duncan (brother of Isadora Duncan).
