The Clark Center Records document the activities of the Clark Center for the Performing Arts, an arts organization focusing on dance training and the presentation of new talent and emerging dance companies. The collection covers the years 1960-1995. It contains information reflecting both of Clark Center’s primary operations, as well as their, ultimately unsuccessful, efforts to secure a permanent space for instruction and performances. A dominant figure in the materials is Louise Roberts, the Center’s director from 1970-1986, and compiler of this collection. less

The Jean Erdman Papers document the professional life of Jean Erdman Campbell, a dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor. Materials date from the late 1930s to the mid-1990s, and cover the early stages of her career as well as productions created during her later endeavors at the Theater of the Open Eye. This collection contains correspondence, production materials, academic papers, office files, financial and legal papers, scrapbooks, publicity materials, and photographs. The New Dance Group (NDG), founded in 1932, provided classes, scholarships, studio rentals, public performances, and support of new choreographic work to the New York City dance community. The Hadassah collection of New Dance Group Studio, Inc. records (1944-1977), assembled and annotated by longtime board and faculty member Hadassah, documents the activities and functions of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee following NDG's nonprofit incorporation in 1944. A selection of personal correspondence regarding Hadassah's dance career and outside affiliations is interspersed throughout. less

Ellen Jacobs Associates (EJA), established in 1981 in New York City, is a public relations firm that represents the performing, visual, and literary arts in the United States and internationally. Since its inception, EJA has represented several renowned dance companies and festivals, including Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company, Erick Hawkins Dance Company, the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and multiple productions and festivals put on by the Joyce Theater in New York City. The Ellen Jacobs Associates records (1982-2003) hold public relations files for dance companies represented by the firm. The files consist of clippings, reviews of performances, press releases, and a limited amount of correspondence. Also present in this collection are slides of performances and bound publicity reports. The majority of the documents in this collection are photocopies. less
