Gus Solomons Jr. is an African-American dancer, choreographer, teacher, and writer. Solomons was a soloist in the dance companies of Donald McKayle, Pearl Lang, Martha Graham and, most notably, Merce Cunningham. Solomons formed his own troupe, The Solomons Company/Dance in 1972. Twenty-four years later in 1996, Solomons founded Paradigm to celebrate mature artists on stage. Max Waldman (1919-1981) was an American photographer noted for creating stylized, expressive dance and theater images. The Max Waldman photographs, which date primarily from 1965 to 1981 and include over a thousand mounted black-and-white photographic prints, trace Waldman's career from its commercial advertising beginnings until his death as a distinguished performance photographer. The collection also includes some professional files relating to management of his studio during and after his lifetime, daybooks, and video recordings. less
