The Reveille Club was founded in 1932 by African American war veterans in order to celebrate and recognize each other's accomplishments. The main criteria of membership was friendship. According to the group's certificate of incorporation of 1953, the purposes of the Club were to "bring together persons of good moral character with similar intellectual and social aspirations"; "countenance and promote among its members, from all walks of life, faith in one another...fulfill the desire to meet as a group..."; and "maintain a club house". The directors of the Club in 1953 were Ira L. Aldridge, Chauncey M. Hooper, and Wilmer F. Lucas. An annual gala honored various individuals including Adam Clayton Powell, Joe Lewis, Kenneth Clark, Ralph Bunche, William Hastie, Thurgood Marshall, A. Phillip Randolph, Marion Anderson, Whitney Young, Clifford Alexander Jr., Ralph Ellison, Muriel Petioni, C. Virginia Fields, and many others. This collections consists of administrative and historical material, including a constitution, bylaws, membership handbooks, and historical scrapbook highlighting various members. In addition, there is a large amount of printed matter, mainly magazine articles, various programs, and business directories, which focuses on Black individuals, organizations, and events. less

The Harlem Writers Guild was established in 1950 and is the oldest organization of African-American writers in the United States. Originally founded as the Harlem Writers Club by John Henrik Clarke, Rosa Guy and John Oliver Killens, it was created as a forum for emerging African-American writers in New York City who felt alienated from the white literary mainstream. The Guild helped nurture African-American literary talent since its inception. Prominent members include Maya Angelou, Amiri Baraka, Terry McMillan, and Louise Meriwether. The Harlem Writers Guild Press was established in 2000 as an imprint to publish the literary works of its members. The Harlem Writers Guild Records collection consists of the work of two Guild members, Grace F. Edwards and K.C. Washington. The collection contains nine manuscripts of published books and unpublished material, including three annotated manuscripts, spanning circa 1998 to 2009. Edwards is the author of the popular Mali Anderson Mystery series. The collection contains three annotated manuscripts: A Toast Before Dying (1998), Do or Die (2000), and The Viaduct (2003). It also includes the manuscript for No Time to Die (The Cereal/Serial Killer) (1999). John Edward Heys is an actor/filmmaker/director/writer who performed with numerous performance groups including the Angels of Light and Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company. He worked with numerous artists including Charles Ludlam, Ethyl Eichelberger, Jackie Curtis, Cookie Mueller, Bill Vehr, Tomata du Plenty, and Gary Indiana. Heys also created several one man shows including his portrayal of Diana Vreeland and La Mamounia; directed Alba Clemente in Rene Ricard's translation of Jean Cocteau's A Human Voice; and created a documentary about Charlotte von Mahlsdorf. The collection contains materials related to the people and personalities whom Heys knew and the performances that Heys was involved in or attended. A significant portion of the collection concerns performances Heys created. Materials also concern Charles Ludlam, the Ridiculous Theatrical Company, Jackie Curtis, and Cookie Mueller. This collection of comic books published between 1933-2010 consists mostly of titles from mainstream publishing companies such as DC and Marvel (Series I and II respectively). However, there are a number of comics from independent companies such as Dark Horse, Archie Enterprises and Caliber Press (Series III). Much of the collection focuses on the superhero / anti-hero out to fight injustice and evil in the world - e.g. Detective Comics (Batman), Hellblazer (Constantine), Fantastic Four and Amazing Heroes. However, quite a few romance, adventure and even X-rated comics are to be found in this collection. One of the defining figures of his instrument, he performed with the Beaux Arts Trio; the Budapest, Juilliard, and Guarneri String Quartets; and was a founding member of the New Music String Quartet. Ben Pesner is a writer and digital content producer for the Broadway League, a national trade association for the Broadway industry. Until 2007, the Broadway League was known as the League of American Theatres. The Ben Pesner collection on the League of American Theatres dates from 1988 to 2006 and contains teaching and study guides; souvenir brochures and programs; press kits; and promotional photographs and slides relating to plays and musicals appearing on Broadway. The guides—for shows such as Ragtime, Jekyll & Hyde, Jane Eyre, Sunset Boulevard, and The Diary of Anne Frank— are the result of the work of Pesner and the League to promote Broadway plays and musicals, and make them accessible to a wide range of audiences. Many guides were written or edited by Pesner, whereas press kits, promotional photographs, and slides were submitted to the League by press agents. The Leida Snow papers date from 1975 to 2005 and contain Snow's reviews of New York theater productions for WINS and WNEW, as well as articles and editorials on the performing arts in general.
