Anthony Trollope was an English novelist, essayist, playwright, satirist, and short-story writer.

Scope and arrangement

This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and correspondence. The manuscripts consist of a holograph of his novel, "Miss Mackenzie," and miscellaneous autograph material, as well as a biography of the author by Hugh Walpole. The correspondence consists of letters from the author, dating from 1862 to 1881, to Frederic Chapman, James T. Fields, Thomas Hardy, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dating from [1842] to 1881, between various correspondents including R. H. Barham, Richard Bentley, Frederick Locker, and others. Also, there is an [1861?] letter to Trollope from William Makepeace Thackeray.
