Scope and arrangement
This is a synthetic collection consisting of a manuscript, a typescript, correspondence by and about the author, and a portrait photograph. The manuscript is by Helen Woodward, and the typescript is an essay by Sinclair. The correspondence consists of letters by the author, dating from 1906 to 1962, to Devere Allen, Howard Fast, Ernest S. Greene, Alfred Kazin, Frances Steloff, Helen Rosen Woodward, and William E. Woodward, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dating from 1906 to 1959, between various correspondents including Eugene Filteau, Ernest S. Greene, Helen Rosen Woodward, William E. Woodward, and others. There are letters to Sinclair from Joseph Banks Rhine, Helen (Rosen) Woodward, William E. Woodward, dating from 1932 to 1944.
