Scope and arrangement
This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and typescripts, correspondence, financial documents, and portraits. The manuscripts and typescripts include poems, essays, reviews, and articles by the author, as well as typescripts of poems relating to the author, by James Stephens, and manuscript essays by Humbert Wolfe. The correspondence consists of letters from the author, many signed with his pseudonym, AE, dating from 1891 to 1935, to Padraic Colum, Anne Fremantle, Alfred Perceval Graves, Lady Isabella Augusta Persse Gregory, W. T. H. Howe, Thomas Joseph Kiernan, Edward Harry William Meyerstein, Thomas Moult, James M. Pryse, James Stephens, William Butler Yeats, and others. Also included are letters relating to the author, dating from [1918] to [1921], between various correspondents, including Padraic Colum, Lady Gregory, W. T. H. Howe, Sir Shane Leslie, Diarmuid Russell, and others. There are letters to Russell from Padraic Colum, Paul Gregan, Lady Gregory, Thomas Moult, Bernard Shaw, and others, dating from 1905 to 1932.
