Scope and arrangement
The Doloris Holmes Papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, promotional flyers, programs, photographs and printed material reflecting her career and interests.
Includes material on specific productions of the White Mask Theatre such as Fish-Joy and on women in the arts. A particular focus is Anaïs Nin; the collection contains photocopies of her letters to Holmes and a typescript of Holmes interview with Nin for the Archives of American Art. Also included is a copy of Holmes' fictionalized autobiography, Lady of the Grape Arbor, published by White Mask Press in 1993 and an annotated script she wrote entitled,Searching for the Women of the Left Bank in 1995.
The Doloris Holmes papers are arranged in seven series:
- 1969-19893 folders
Papers organized by Doloris Holmes and documenting the history of the White Mask Theatre.
- 1967-19941 folder
Miscellaneous personal papers, including Holmes' resume, reflect her career including her involvement in the visual arts. Includes material on her former husband, Armand Schwerer.
- 1966-19961 folder
Correspondence, mostly incoming, to Doloris Holmes.
- 1970-19956 folders
This series includes the writings of Doloris Holmes. Included are biographical writings as well as poetry, essays and plays.
- 1970-19911 folder
Programs, flyers and press releases for the White Mask Theatre.
- 1972-19953 folder
Biographical materials about Anaïs Nin. Included are photocopies of correspondence from Nin to Doloris Holmes.

Performance photographs [1979 and n.d.] from the works of Doloris Holmes.
