Scope and arrangement
Photographs show the character of tenements, churches and industrial betterment institutions in a number of American and foreign manufacturing establishments.
The The American Institute of Social Service Exhibition, Photographs are arranged in eleven series:
Series I includes photographs of Albergo Popolare, Milan's Workingmen's Hotel, California State Prison, Cooperative Industries in Milan, Home for Aged Workmen, Supported by the Firm of Jacob Ballenberg, Cologne, Germany, Housing Liverpool, London County Council House, Milbank Estate and other.
Series II includes photographs of Association of the Clothing Industry, Berlin, The Cooperative Law Company, Brooklyn, N. Y., Draper Company, Hopedale, Massachusetts, Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, N. Y., H. J. Heinz Co., Pittsburgh, Pa., National Cash Register Co., Dayton, Ohio, Proximity Manufacturing Co., White Oak Cotton Hills, Greensboro, N. C., Sherwin-Williams Co., Cleveland, Ohio and other.
Series III includes photographs of Baptist Temple, Philadelphia, Christ Church, New York, First Congregational, Elyria, Ohio, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Cleveland, Ohio, St. James, Pa. St. Timothy's Chapel, The Washington Square Methodist Episcopal Church, New York City and other.
Series IV includes photographs of Billiard Room, The Celluloid Club, Newark, Club House and Grounds, Howland Croft's Sons Co., Camden, N. J.; Library, Weston Electrical Instrument Co., Newark, N. Series V includes photographs of life and labor in Italy, Holland, France, and New York.
Series VI includes photographs of Biddle University, Charlotte, N. C., Fisk University, Nashville, Straight University, New Orleans, Tougaloo University, Miss. and other.
Series VII includes photographs of Borough of Manhattan, New York City, Bronx Park, Borough of Bronx, New York City, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Prospect Park, Borough of Brooklyn, New York City and other.
Series VIII includes photographs of Bureau, Relief Department, Denver, Col., Christmas Dinner party, Coal by the Pail and Bucket, Chatham Square Lodging House, Auction sale of second hand clothing, Type setting at headquarters, Dry Dock Shelter, New York and other.
Series IX includes photographs of Chinatown, clubs and societies, fire department, Golden Gate Park, health department, public library and other.
