Marion Andersen (1924-2002) was a modern dancer, choreographer, and instructor. The Marion Andersen papers, dated 1930 to 2002, document her choreography work; creation of dance departments and performing companies at Utah State University and the University of Washington; and founding of the Valley Dance Ensemble in Logan, UT. The Paul Cranefield Papers, 1824-2002 [bulk years 1951-2002], document medical doctor and theater enthusiast Paul Cranefield’s interest and contribution to New York City’s theatrical world, and in particular the Off-Off Broadway movement. The collection consists of administrative files created by the La Mama Experimental Theatre Club and the Circle Repertory Theatre, in which Cranefield served as a board member for several years. They include correspondence, meeting minutes, notes and agendas, legal and financial records, grant applications, leaflets and brochures, production inventories, and Cranefield’s writings on subjects related to theater and collecting. There are also scripts, photographs, clippings, and a considerable number of programs and posters from productions created by La Mama and Circle Repertory Theatre, as well as from productions of the 1800s, collected by Cranefield. less

The Typophiles is a not-for-profit educational association that encourages the appreciation and production of fine typography and bookmaking through lectures, meetings, and the production of fine examples of the printing arts. The collection, dating from 1908 to 2011, consists of the papers of Dr. Robert L. Leslie and the records he generated as a member and officer of the Typophiles. Included are Dr. Leslie's personal and professional papers, as well as records from his businesses, The Composing Room, the Gallery 303, and the Heritage of the Graphic Arts lecture series. Ecco Press was an independent small-trade publisher known for presenting distinguished new work in international poetry and fiction writing through its books and its journal Antaeus, and for reissuing neglected classics in a variety of fields, including travel and food writing. Daniel Halpern (b. 1945) started Antaeus in 1970 with the help of Paul Bowles. His search for financial backing for Antaeus led to the creation of Ecco Press in 1971 with co-founder and publisher Drue Heinz. Heinz retired in 1991, transferring ownership of Ecco Press to Halpern, its editor-in-chief. Ecco Press remained an independent firm, although affiliated with publishers Viking Press and W.W. Norton & Company for sales and distribution, until its acquisition by HarperCollins in 1999. The Ecco Press records contain correspondence, memoranda, administrative and financial records, typescripts, galleys, page proofs, bound books and periodicals, photographs, jacket art, posters, a sound recording and computer data storage that document the founding and day-to-day operations of the press. The records also reflect the personal life and career of Daniel Halpern as an editor, poet, teacher, anthologist, and prominent literary figure, as well as such literary activities as the National Poetry Series which Halpern ran out of the Ecco Press offices.
