Scope and arrangement
The Broadway Bound production materials date from 1994 to 2005 and chronicle the process of creating musicals performed aboard the luxury ocean liner, Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2), by Broadway Bound, Inc. The collection holds administrative files, costume and set designs, scores, photographs, playbills, a poster, scripts, and audio and video recordings. It is arranged in the following groups: Administrative Files; Costume and Set Designs; Photographs; Scripts; Notated Music; Assorted Printed Matter; and Audio and Video Recordings. Materials are arranged alphabetically within each grouping.
Administrative Files include behind-the-scenes preparations for musicals; casting information; correspondence; a list of lighting designers under consideration; and a stage manager's prompt book. The Costume and Set Design files contain logos, prop lists, and watercolor drawings and sketches of costumes.
Photographs depict performances of Can't Stop the Music, Enter the Guardsman, The Hit Parade, and The Wonderful Words of Sammy Cahn. The Hit Parade is especially well-represented. Some behind-the-scenes photographs are also contained here.
There are scripts for Can't Stop the Music, The Hit Parade, Hooray for Hollywood, and The Wonderful Words of Sammy Cahn. These scripts include editorial comments about the pace of productions, dialogue edits, and possible changes to musical numbers. Of special note are early script development notes for The Wonderful Words of Sammy Cahn from 1994.
The Notated Music grouping contains complete scores for Broadway Bound productions, while the Printed Matter grouping holds playbills, publicity materials, and a poster for The Game of Love.
Audio and video recordings primarily consist of audition tapes and music used for Broadway Bound productions, with emphasis on Can't Stop the Music, The Hit Parade, The Game of Love, and Hooray for Hollywood. Auditions depicted are held in London, New York City, and Canada. Additionally, there are video recordings of a backstage interview and classes for Broadway Bound actors.
