William J. Kaland (1915-1983) was a writer and producer of programs for radio and television, mostly for the Westinghouse Broadcasting Company where he was an executive producer. He created a number of public affairs and history programs including The Great Ones (1967) and a series on the problems of transportation and communication which won the George Foster Peabody Award in 1973. The collection consists of press material (including photographs), scripts, memoranda, correspondence, and notes concerning projects on which he worked; and jingle lyrics. It also includes biographical material on Kaland, some of his writings, and two video recordings.
