Scope and arrangement
The Jack Rubin papers (1943-1952) consist of scripts written by Rubin for dozens of radio programs, films, and television shows. The collection documents both Rubin's produced and unproduced works. Most of the scripts are for episodes of The Hallmark Playhouse, the NBC radio drama series Screen Directors' Playhouse, and This is Hollywood (presented by Camay and hosted by Hedda Hopper). Rubin's work for The Hardy Family and Chicken Every Sunday is also represented. Episode numbers and titles appear in the container list.
Although Rubin wrote the screenplay for the motion picture, The Undercover Man, this collection only contains a synopsis of the film and a 1947 memo from Rubin to producer Robert Rossen discussing why Rubin wanted to travel east to conduct research for the film. (b. 8 f. 1)
Many of the scripts are undated and there is one file of unidentified material (b. 8 f. 2).
Arrangement
The collection is arranged alphabetically by the title of the program or film.
