Scope and arrangement
The collection dates from 1924 to 1950 and contains caricatures of actors and actresses from the 1920s and 1930s; drawings and sketches; and a scrapbook with clippings of Spitzer's published work. The caricatures were primarily done in pencil, charcoal, and ink. Among the several actors and actresses illustrated are Frank Monroe, Elizabeth Risdon, Lester Allen, Grace Brinkley, Estelle Winwood, Ruth Gordon, Ernest Glendinning, Blanche Yurka, Linda Watkins, and Frank Craven. Other works include gesture drawings, sketches of film or play scenes, and watercolor fashion illustrations.
