Scope and arrangement
The M.R. Lauterer collection of general reference theater scrapbooks date from 1876 to 1915 and contain nine volumes of clippings and programs. The scrapbooks are international in scope, and serve as a reference guide to countless plays and actors from the early 20th century. Each volume contains a table of contents with the production title. Some of the volumes lead with a typewritten theoretical essay or article about drama, usually excerpted from another text.
The scrapbooks were assigned catalog numbers before final processing, and those numbers are retained under notes in the container list.
Arrangement
The volumes are arranged in chronological order.
