Collection consists of production material from nine plays reflecting the work of Susan Chute, as well as her work as design associate/assistant. Includes scripts, lighting plots, notes, schedules, scenic breakdowns, contact sheets, equipment lists, etc. While some titles consist of the script alone, or script and a single lighting plot, the titles with extensive lighting documentation are LA CADUTA DE' DECEMVIRI, THE FLOWERING PEACH and JEKYLL & HYDE.

Biographical/historical information

Susan Chute is a stage lighting designer who has created her own designs and worked as an assistant or associate to several prominent designers, notably Richard Nelson, Stephen Strawbridge, James F. Ingalls, and special effects designer Gergory Meeh of Jauchem & Meeh, Inc.

Scope and arrangement

The collection consists of production materials from nine plays reflecting the work of Susan Chute as well as her work as a design associate/assistant. It includes scripts, lighting plots, notes, schedules, scenic breakdowns, contact sheets and equipment lists. The productions, arranged alphabetically by title, are: Scarlatti's opera, La Caduta de' Decemviri, The National Actors Theatre 1994 production of Clifford Odets' The Flowering Peach, Gray's Anatomy by Jim Leonard, Jr., the musical, Jekyll and Hyde in its pre-Broadway tour, Rum and Coke by Keith Reddin (script only), Shoeman by Jeff Daniels (lighting plot only), Swinging on a Star by Michael Leeds, Shakespeare's Timon of Athens (script only), and Translations by Brian Friel (script only).
