Joseph Noel, dramatist, novelist and newspaperman, was a friend and associate of Jack London and wrote about him in Footloose in Arcadia (1940). The collection is primarily Noel's correspondence, mostly incoming letters concerning his plays. Of particular interest are the correspondence and legal contracts with Jack London and Ben Stern, most pertaining to Noel's dramatization of London's novel, The Sea Wolf, produced on the stage by Stern. Collection also contains a few pieces of London ephemera collected by Noel.
