Morton Gottlieb was an American theater producer. The collection dates from 1961 to 1966 and contains reviews, clippings, press releases, programs, and invoices for plays that Gottlieb had produced.

Biographical/historical information

Morton Gottlieb (1921-2009) was an American theater producer who managed and produced regional and Broadway productions from the 1940s until the 1980s. His play Sleuth won a Tony Award in 1971 and was made into a film the following year.

Morton Gottlieb died in Englewood, New Jersey in 2009.

Scope and arrangement

The Morton Gottlieb production files date from 1961 to 1966 and document the promotion and reception of some of Gottlieb's plays, such as Enter Laughing (1962), Chips With Everything (1963), P.S. I Love You (1964), The Wrecking Ball (1964), and The White House (1963). The collection is arranged by play title and contains reviews, clippings, press releases, programs, and invoices. There are also production photographs of an unidentified play.
