Scope and arrangement
The focus of the collection is the shows accepted and performed at the yearly festivals. Thus, the majority of the collection consists of application materials and other supporting documentation that was submitted to the Fringe staff. Because of this, the collection mostly consists of show files arranged by year of the festival and then alphabetically by production title within that year. There is a very small amount of administrative material related to the promotion of the festival.
Show files usually consist of one folder per show presented at that year's festival; occasionally the show encompasses two folders or contains electronic materials and/or audiovisual materials. The files can consist of application forms and supporting materials (including jury evaluations, mostly limited to the 1997 files), participant agreements, press releases and marketing materials (mostly for the Fringe staging of the productions), programs, correspondence between the submitters and the festival, photographs, slides, scores, scripts, blurbs, bios, resumes, license agreements, and tech survey forms, sometimes with diagrams attached. The applications occasionally contained visual scripts, artwork, and audiovisual materials. Occasionally the audiovisual materials are for other shows produced by the same company, and not the show in question. Not every show has the same types of listed documents and the first two years have the most material per show. All of the material refers to shows that were accepted by the festival with no material for the rejected.
The administration grouping consists of the only information related to the general running of the festival and is confined to documents related to the website.
Arrangement
Separated into two groupings, Show Files and Administrative. Show Files are organized chronologically by year of the festival and then alphabetically. Administrative is alphabetical.
