Scope and arrangement
The Gordon Davis photographs (1994-2005) consists of color photographs and some negatives relating to Davis' professional and personal life. The majority of the collection is dedicated to the 2005 staging of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work "The Gates" in Central Park, a project that was first proposed when Davis was the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. Also included are images of Davis at the White House, featuring President Barack Obama, and photographs taken from Davis' office walls. One photograph features the United States postage stamp that was released to commemorate Davis' father, the anthropologist Dr. W. Allison Davis.
