Scope and arrangement
The June Jackson Christmas photographs span from 1941 to 2005 and document various aspects of Dr. June Jackson Christmas' professional and personal life through photographic prints, negatives, disassembled photograph albums, and ephemera. The photographs are arranged chronologically with some grouped by date and some grouped by a discrete event.
Highlights from the collection include images of Christmas' swearing-in ceremony as Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services (DMHMRS), professional portraits, retirement celebrations, and public appearances at conferences and community events. Notable events include the American Psychological Association Conference, her role as the Vassar College President's Distinguished Visitor, and events associated with the Urban Issues Group. The photographs also capture Christmas' participation in academic and civic events, such as the Boston University Sesquicentennial and the Jackie Robinson Foundation Board of Directors.
