Scope and arrangement
The collection includes color transparencies, color slides, and negatives documenting singers, musicians, and crew backstage and outdoors at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and at various touring locations across the United States. Collection is especially noteworthy for its documentation of costume design and props used in productions.
Arrangement
The original order was maintained. The collection is divided into three series: Color transparencies, Slides, and Negatives. Within each series, items are arranged roughly by opera title and divided into performances taking place at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and performances taking place at various touring locations. Slides were removed from original carousels and rehoused in slide sheets.
Itemized lists of slides, including each slide's position in the original carousel, appear in each folder. The majority of items are individually labeled.
