Henry I. Escher was president of the Swiss Benevolent Society in 1868. The Society was officially founded in New York City in 1846 to provide aid for Swiss immigrants to the U.S. Collection consists of unpublished manuscript by Escher on the history of the Swiss people and their interest in charitable organizations. Also, four volumes of name indexes of members of the Swiss Benevolent Society.
