Samuel H. Emery was a Congregational clergyman; a Civil War Union chaplain at Quincy, Illinois; and historian of Taunton, Massachusetts. These papers consist of letters he received from 1856 to 1894 and his notes on ecclesiastical history, kept while a student in 1836-1837
