The American Industrial Mission to Mexico was formed in 1924 when Marcos E. Raya, the mayor of Mexico City, extended an invitation to the American Manufacturers Export Association (A.M.E.A.) to send a delegation of American manufacturers, bankers and other businessmen to attend Mexico's Independence Day celebration. The theme of the visit was to promote commercial, industrial and banking relations between the United States and Mexico. Collection consists of scrapbook compiled by William Wallace Nichols, president of the Mission, containing letters, telegrams, speeches, printed matter, and photographs from the American Industrial Mission to Mexico in 1924. Speeches are copies of Nichols' speeches delivered in Mexico and elsewhere regarding trade between the United States and Mexico. Photographs were taken during the Mexican trip in 1924, depicting the American delegates, scenes of Mexico and Mexican officials.
