Samuel Gardner Drake (1798-1875) was an American historian, antiquarian, genealogist, and bookseller. He wrote about New England history, Indians and witchcraft. Collection consists of Drake's manuscript transcripts of documents, 1633-1792, relating to Indians, particularly Indians of New England. Also, letters, 1838-1857, relating to his bookselling business in Boston, the history of the Drake family, and other business and personal matters; a part of a manuscript relating to witchcraft; and miscellaneous notes, genealogical charts, writings, and printed materials.
