Thirteen holograph letters written by members of the Smith family of Virginia. Included are letters by J.W. Smith, a Confederate soldier, written to his brother Doyne while at camp at Petersburg, near Harrisburg, and near Gaines Crossroads in which he reports on battles with Union troops.
